What happens to a dream deferred? Charreah Katie Jackson hopes to never find out and wants to help other young people have that same opportunity. She currently is Associate Editor at ESSENCE.com where she writes, researches and manages content for the News and Entertainment channel, as well as works on the sites online social network. She was a 2007 scholarship winner for the Journalism and Women Symposium and has remained active in the organization for the advancement of women in the newsroom and all areas of life. While a student at Howard University, she completed her thesis on college women and their thoughts on marriage, and she continues to research and write about women and relationships.
She has earned awards in journalism and was a finalist for a Hearst Award in editorial writing for a piece on Barack Obama’s candidacy. Charreah is also active in her community, including working with Big Brother/Big Sisters, Dress for Success and the National Council of Negro Women. Charreah continues to explore the ways men and women relate to one another and strives to help build stronger families and communities.
